After pioneer decided to close their business TV in 2009, Hitachi announced yesterday that they would cease production and outsourcing all production TV developers in Taiwan and other Asian countries. And even though Hitachi stated that they would continue sales of televisions in the future, this sounds very similar to the long goodbye.

This step is not a big surprise, because it is difficult to make money with TV. Many of the creators of the big electronics struggled to bring their business TV in black recently, Sony or market leader Samsung (Hitachi expects to lose money in this segment in the current fiscal year, too).

The company has only one plant for flat panel on the left in Japan, which it plans to close by the end of the year, according to reports in the media of Japan.

This is a good time to throw business TV, five months after 11 March earthquake in Japan (which hurt Hitachi's sales), the switch in Japan from analog to digital TV broadcasting two weeks ago (which led to massive demand for new televisions, which are currently being finalized), and five days after the company announced a 97 per cent decline in net profit for the quarter to June.
