As Chris Dixon wraps up his conversation with Thrillist co-founder and Lehrer enterprises-partners Ben Lerer, Lehrer offers his assessment of today's startup environment. From his point of view it's a mixed bag. (Note: this was written before the recent financial crisis)

"Since we started investing, we have seen a lot more money on the market. so it's harder to be seed stage investor because evaluations will grow. "  However, Lehrer has advantage for us is that there is no more money on series stage and therefore more of our companies get a chance and to continue to live. "

Dixon weighs in on carried out by relay chatter, he heard from some investors. He says, "what worries about the current environment is less than the estimates being so high, but more the fact that time is so short that they must make a decision [investment] in three days." Dixon's opinion? "I think it's a mistake on both sides."

Picking up their conversation in the video below, Dixon asked Lehrer who competition when it comes to investing. Lehrer said that a lot of it comes from people with financial resources, which are new to tech investment game who "throw money at it" and "don't understand ecosystems." He continues, "there are some stupid checks".
