Verizon is preparing to launch Android phone, targeted at women, HTC bliss. The device comes in a "pretty" seafoam as green and will include dangling Charm that lights up when you have a missed call or a new message.
Oh and here's the best part-the phone is also rumored to come with a special gender-sensitive apps such as calorie counter and application for shopping.
Moan.
In case you can't tell, I'm not a fan of phones targeted at women.
But first, news:
The fact that the phone is not new information. Projects for the device were leaked in may, when is my next… the sources, who claimed the phone will be MID device, something of a cross between the HTC desire and aspiration of S Z.
Today we have more detailed information on possible specs that really confirms that this phone does not power. Sources for these claims are anonymous leaks, however, reported through YouHTC and HTC inside. So keep this in mind.
Bliss communications processor Qualcomm MSM7x30 will probably MSM7630 (due to Verizon's CDMA network), works at a frequency of 800 MHz. This puts it in line with other phones HTC desire z, and T-Mobile G2. Bliss GPU will Adreno 205 and it will run Android 2.3.4 (biscuit).
Only standout feature if you can even call it that, is the HTC sense of 3.5, the latest version. HTC is the overlay, attempts to provide more attractive and user-friendly interface for Android and HTC is one of the key points of sale or major weakness, depending on your personal opinion. I found the sense to go slowly and usually change it alternatively as LauncherPro, or GO launcher instead. You may not agree.
According to a leaked Verizon roadmap here posted by IGN Bliss is due to arrive next month.
Turning to the ladies?
What bothers me about the idea of Android phone "girl" that somehow my gender has different needs and expectations than their male counterparts when it comes to Smartphones. Color and flavors of a mobile phone is not necessarily "womanly" things – they can appeal to a younger demographic, or those who engage with interventions possible. But this does not mean only women.
What I take issue with is the marketing tactics of gender biases, Favorites Verizon deal from the very first day, starting with his Droid campaign featuring robots and comments about the racehorses, duct tape for Scud. "so strictly masculine.
Why Android should be set up differently for men and women? Last time I checked, women want men to do the same stuff in their devices: power, performance, hardware, software, plus lots and lots of applications.
And not only those diets.
