Facebook responded to privacy can scare a meme stemming from recent flow HackerNews entitled "Facebook has full telephone" with the official post on the Facebook Wall and personal message Facebook Messenger engineer Ben Gertzfield on HackerNews.

In their efforts to dominate all kinds of human communication (yay Messenger!) Facebook decided to match and de-dupe numbers on your friends list and Facebook mobile contacts to form one consistent list of contacts, that only you can see. For those of you that didn't realize that the Facebook now has contact information for various aunts, bosses, cleaning, etc., this may come as a shock.

Facebook's official response:

"Rumors, claiming that your contacts phone number visible to everyone on Facebook are false. Our list of contacts, known as the phone book, there is a long time. The phone numbers listed here have either added to your friends, and made visible for you, or you have previously synchronized your phone contacts with Facebook. Just like on your phone, you can see these numbers. "

Fair enough. So why noise? Well, this is quite eye-opening to see friends, you don't even think you (wow, I really must call random people and catching up) simply by clicking on this link. As Facebook get those numbers in the first place? With your permission, of course!

As HackerNews user "extension indicates that allows contact synchronization on Facebook mobile applications will lead to something similar to the following message:

"If you enable this feature, all contacts from your device (name, email address, phone number) will be sent to Facebook and be subject to Facebook's privacy policy, and your friends ' profile photos and other information from Facebook will be added to your address book on your iPhone. Please make sure that your friends are comfortable with any use you make of their information. [Cancel] [I agree] "

Thus, by agreeing) you essentially prefer to download the information you entered in your phone to Facebook and (b)) people decided to give you numbers. But yes, this is your buddy wine — these days, to avoid the monotony of reading something that sounds remotely, people will [agree] to just about anything like TOS, even if it is only two sentences.

Still not sure? You can delete phone numbers that have been imported into the Facebook contacts by clicking on this link https://www.facebook.com/c ontact_importer/remove_upl oads. php? r =% 2Fphonebook.

Facebook still owns his immortal soul though.
