Many government agencies are slow to adopt the cloud because of specific regulations, compliance issues and security rules. To mitigate this, Amazon Web Services launches AWS GovCloud, the new safe area specialized for the United States Government agencies and contractors to distribute the workload more sensitive in the cloud.
Amazon said that many government agencies with the data subject, such as the international traffic in arms regulations is not permitted to manage and store data related to the defence in the cloud which can be accessed by anyone outside the United States
Because AWS GovCloud physically accessible only in the United States, government agencies can now be controlled more strictly regulated data in AWS remaining Federal requirements. Amazon said that GovCloud offers similar levels of security, like other regions in, but also supports existing in security verification and certificates such as FISMA, FIPS 140 compliant endpoints-2, SAS 70, ISO 27001 and PCI DSS level 1.
AWS resources that can be deployed with in GovCloud include Amazon EC2, Amazon Simple storage service (Amazon S3) and Amazon virtual private cloud (Amazon VPC).
NASA already uses AWS GovCloud, said the company. More than 100 government agencies use the AWS in one form or another, so that these institutions are now able to move GovCloud.
