Beyonce helped push Twitter to a new record in terms of Tweets on the second last night when pop singer announced her pregnancy at the MTV Video Music Awards. According to Twitter, big MTV # VMA Beyonce at the time gave Twitter entries bump: 8.868 Tweets per second.

Beyonce showed her pregnancy at the awards show last night, and the announcement was rubbing her baby bump at the scene after her performances of the singer. That's when Twitter saw a record number of Tweets sent.

MTV also saw record online viewership of the event, with 2.3 million video streams a day. MTV reported that on Sunday, MTV.com drew the largest VMA day audience ever (almost 2 million), while MTV's mobile site, scored his biggest day ever, including 2.7 million mobile views. MTV.com also top-notch referrals from Twitter and never on Sunday "was the most socially VMA day ever," according to the network.

It's a little surprising that Baby news from celebrity has an entry for Tweets per second. The previous record holder TPS occurred in the last minutes of United States women's soccer team game against Japan in July, with 7.196 Tweets per second.

From the perspective of the last write event bin Laden death attracts significant peak in Tweets per second 5.106 TPS. Super Bowl 2011 year saw 4.064 TP, and an all-time high was new year's Eve 2010 year in Japan, which hit 6939 TPS at its peak. Day of the Japanese earthquake and tsunami in March using Twitter reached 5530 TPS. And during the Royal Wedding in England in April Twitter peaked at 3966 TPS.

I'm probably not the place to Beyonce Baby news by the same shock or category news worthy event as the above (I actually didn't even watch the VMAs last night). But the fact that the news was able to reach such a high participation for Twitter message that people use the medium of communication in record numbers.

Joint brings group chat for Twitter

RIP Empson-writer at TechCrunch. He did not find friends here, he is here to win and you don't forget it. You can contact him at rip [at] techcrunch [dot] com ? more

joint_logo_name

About a month ago, Tom Anderson (Myspace Tom, if you prefer) wrote a post on his new favorite social network, Google +, offering a few bits of advice for Twitter. Although many of us enjoy good Twittering now and again, Anderson pointed out that there are several simple features, Twitter could consider if it wants to improve the overall quality of its users. The thrust that could improve social experience Twitter were company to add a "discussion" or chat feature that will, in Tom's conception, to give the Viewer provides a space for you to leave a comment and discuss easy tweets without flooding followers streams from one part of the conversation continues.

Well Tom may simply be interested in a new startup launching today, is called the joint. Okay, well this is not an exact copy of Myspace founder idea, but it attacked the same point the pain of long-discussed Twitter users: in desperate need of better platform to facilitate real-time, private and longer form conversations. Of course there are some differences among users over whether Twitter should be one offering this function, or whether it should remain simple, just like this.

Says joint founder Ethan Gahng (and I tend to agree) that Twitter is better served by staying simple in terms of its user interface and instead allows third party startups and developers to add additional social and chat features from the outside world. (And Twitter in the past few years seems to be largely in line with this philosophy).

To achieve this objective, the joint essentially turns any Twitter hashtag in IRC (Internet Relay channel)-as a chat room, which is integrated with real-time hashtag stream from Twitter. Check it out below. This combo box allows users to participate in a number of different social interactions, including front and center real-time Group chat, which fills with live hashtag channel in the right sidebar.

Users can pull hashtags directly in group chat, or invite people who posted tweets in group chat, right from the chat, or just go and enjoy the synchronous chat, watching as Twitter stream fills. Compared with Hootsuite, Tweetdeck and other third-party applications that let you track hashtags, being able to watch someone Tweet outside and bring them in and chat away this thin borders and differences by joint, what really makes a big difference.

If you're trying to engage in conversation with someone on Twitter, that goes beyond a few @ replies, "you either have to DM or the conversation of other countries. Sharing allows users to easily join group chat, and also to discussing major or popular hashtags. For example, in recent times "# irene" became used as hashtag as Hurricane Irene ready to hit the East Coast. The joint could be a very useful resource for those who want to easily gather and discuss the current situation, such as hurricanes, protests or events, live, from anywhere.

Another cool joint in the aspect that it should function as an informal conversation environment for Twitter users means that if I have a conversation with someone and a third person joins a chat room, they will not be able to see the current conversation. It says, is intended to ensure joint Gahng group chat more interaction in the real world.

That joint in cases of alleged use Gahng said that it is easy to connect to other people on Twitter, but it's hard to really get to know them, so that through the joint, you can meet someone on Twitter that you want to play Starcraft, with many of your followers do not wish to join in on the fun. Which is why open standards Warrior Chris Messina offers a hashtag in the first place, but certainly not so many people regularly follow hashtags in their day-to-day use of Twitter. Joint looks at this change, making it easy to search for different hashtags, discuss and follow them synchronously in real-time. As an example, check out Starcraft feed here.

Not to speak of the fact that, because tweeting with hashtags means that your tweets get archive and live eternally in search engines, etc., many people feel uncomfortable about the availability of public conversations (more private matters, especially) on Twitter. We've all had to delete a Tweet or two and often too late. Giving Twitter users who added benefit social flexibility, joint hopes to give yourself a leg up on other third-party Twitter apps.

And finally beyond just the ability to monitor the hashtag groups, joint also informs the user when a new user in chat room, offers search descriptions and enables users to view main catalogue or even start their own hashtag channel.

Joint solves major pain point, often faced by Twitter users and from my experience at chats and poking around the site, the user interface is simple and chat is a fast and easy to use. A multidisciplinary team of three people working on this since January and run the initialization at the moment, but if the platform can be scaled and continue to work in real-time without glitches, this seems like something that can definitely legs.

Joint and his team is not affiliated with Twitter in any way, but I wouldn't be surprised if social networks comes knocking at the door at some point down the road.

In March, after at least one high profile security incident Twitter created the option Enable HTTPS at all times. But a more secure way to view the twitter.com could include only manually by selecting it in your profile (or typing "https://" every time you went to Twitter). Today, the service begins to enable HTTPS by default.

Firstly this will include only a small group of users, says Twitter. Over time they will expand it more. This is a welcome change, which added other services like Gmail, over the years. Google even experimented with it on google.com, and Facebook is able to use it, and after many years of avoiding it.

Many services, avoid it because it means a small performance hit. Others don't like it, because he scrubs the data transfer. And this may mean that some of these third parties may be funky. However, in the era of Firesheep HTTPS becomes necessary.

If you're not in the default test group and want to learn more about HTTPS, you can do so here. Twitter recommends that all lit it at the time as they slowly roll it all.

RIP Empson-writer at TechCrunch. He did not find friends here, he is here to win and you don't forget it. You can contact him at rip [at] techcrunch [dot] com ? more

@life 3

Over the past few months, Twitter is rolling out some key improvements to their users by adding an improved search functionality and the ability to upload images directly from your Twitter stream. Photo update came through Photobucket hosted and appeared as pic. twitter links and images for the user's followers, as we reported in June and again two weeks ago, when this function was officially available for the full 100% of Twitter users.

Today Twitter keeps rolling by adding image galleries to everyday Twitter users update photos. Huzzah! According to the new Twitter support page of the image gallery users will gather the most recent 100 images that you downloaded to his or her Twitter stream during their recent Twittering career, organizing them all on one page and display them in chronological order.

The images included in user galleries can come from Twitter, yFrog, TwitPic, Instagram and other image sharing services is supported on Twitter Details» Twitter said through the Help Center. Twitterers are likely to be grateful for this opportunity, as this means that users no longer have to click over to a third party sharing application for viewing photo twit friend photos. This new feature is also a Twitter well in their quest for stickier users. Users on the site for all of their photo sharing needs without doubt will be great for Twitter stats and a useful addition for users.

To technical limitations of image galleries display (as mentioned earlier) will include 100 most recent photos and, unfortunately, video thumbnails will not be enabled there will be Tweets with links to videos. Moreover Tweets with images that were sent before January 1, 2010 will not be included in the image gallery.

For those looking for new galleries users they can be found on your profile page. According to the Twitter Help Center by clicking the "show all" open gallery in the current window. There are two options for viewing as a grid view and remote from the first and the last is show you the latest images, complete with the body of the tweet is displayed below and sketches for the other images above it, Twitter said.

Personally, it's hard for me to believe that Twitter is just rolling out this feature in the August of 2011, but that being said, I am glad that here. It would be nice to have the same photos, view the version of the above "similar to you at our Facebook above our wall channels.

For those who are not seeing new photo option in the user profile is more lenient, galleries of images should be popping up within 24 hours if they have not already done so. I do not see the galleries for the Web client or Twitter desktop applications for Mac, but I'm sure they will soon be surfacing. In the end we waited several years for this, what is a few hours?

comScore in July traffic numbers are out, and by analogy with the June conclusions, Facebook and Twitter have seen record traffic in terms of United States unique visitors per month. In July, Facebook saw tremendous 162 million unique visitors, compared with 160.8 million unique impressions in June, and 157.2 million uniques in May.

Twitter also posted record traffic in its history, five years; with 32.8 million unique visitors in July, the United States in may, compared with 30.6 million unique visitors in June and 27 million unique impressions. As we said in the past, the constant increase in traffic is a big deal for Twitter, which splits traffic between their own mobile clients, and many third-party customers, who are used to access the network. And Twitter has just completed the transition from the old Web interface to its improved, feature-rich Web applications.

LinkedIn, which saw traffic spike post IPO, Passing a little in terms of unique visitors in the United States in July, seeing 32.5 million unique visitors per month, compared with 33.9 million unique visitors in June. MySpace continued to bleed traffic 32.8 million unique visitors in July (tied with Twitter) from 33 million in June.

While we once thought that Facebook and Twitter will duel it out to users and traffic, clearly this is not the case anymore. Facebook's traffic fivefold Twitter United States visitors. Twitter is not a "murder" of Facebook, or vice versa, as Twitter continues to grow in terms of traffic.

But with the new kid on the block, Google + steadily gaining users, it should be interesting to see if the search giant reaches the social network Twitter traffic. Already there are signs that Google + traffic slows down, but it's still early, and that may change.

Twitter has just released a new Bootstrap, Toolkit for building Web applications using CSS. It includes the base CSS styles for typography, forms, buttons, tables, grid, navigation, alerts, and more. Here you will find the loader on GitHub.

Twitter says that the loader began as a way to ensure a coherent framework for the front of the individual applications. The toolkit was originally developed in the course of the first Hackweek Twitter, and Twitter is working on tools release for developers.

Advantages of the loader is that it is built with smaller (read about less than here), who says Twitter is the more flexible the preprocessor, which offers much more power and flexibility than regular CSS. With less developers can access features such as nested declarations, variables, impurities and color functions. It also makes the boot easy to implement (drop it into the code and go, says Twitter) and very simple.

The company says that external tookit Boostrap became popular when developing new applications and sites of its flexibility. By post: the loader is a very simple way to promote rapid, clean and very useful application.

Twitter tries to attract developers more closely later, recently launched a new Developer Portal. In fact, there are currently more than one million registered third-party applications, built more than 750 000 developers around the world. And a new application is logged every 1.5 seconds.

Hot on the heels of their great activity update yesterday, Twitter is the preservation of the features coming. Today brings a smaller but nevertheless useful: the reference profile.

First noticed the Mashable in very limited testing for about a month ago, this feature is now rolling out to all users. Now, it looks like users with fewer followers get first, and it applies to persons with higher follower counts.

Feature is simple and, frankly, surprising Twitter did this for a long time ago. He puts the tweet box user profile pages, you can send Tweets to them directly from those pages (without the need to return to the main page of Twitter.com or to respond to the specific Tweet that user sent). This field contains the text of grey, which reads as follows: "Twitter @ username". When you click in the text box is replaced with the @ username in the intro, then the input to this user.

Yes, it's a bit like what Facebook is done forever, in order to write on someone's wall. Of course, unlike the Facebook Wall, your tweet will appear on your profile page even users just he will join main stream tweet.

I suspect that Twitter is testing a few other little tweaks, such as this, all in the name of the interaction. This seems to be the main theme of the NewNewTwitter. Yes, I just called him that.

Twitter comes alive with activity streams in real time

Since its inception, the content on Twitter is largely displayed the same key. It is linear, reverse chronological stream of Tweets. Two new sections to be added to the service are going to change that.

In particular, in the @ mention at twitter.com is replaced by two new tabs: "@ username" and "activities". These two threads will add an additional layer of Twitter and Tweets, the layer showing social activity around them.

@ USERNAME (of course, the user name will be replaced with your Twitter name) stream will still show your @ replies, but it will also show things like when someone follows you, someone favorites one of your Tweets when someone retweets your Tweets, or when someone adds you to the list.

In the work flow will show you all these things, but related to all the people you follow on Twitter. In other words, you can see if you retweeted tweet, or if someone new, etc.

If you are familiar with Instagram, this double activity stream is similar to the concept that they use to cover the events in the service after the photos are in the main stream.

All this information into these two new Twitter streams in real time. And what you can do as a reply, retweet and most importantly for Twitter, follow directly from within those threads.

This is the key to this change: this is yet another step to Twitter to mass their social graph. And this one is clever because it will make Twitter feel more alive. At the same time, they're keeping main stream intact as a simple, standard reverse chronological stream. Mixing @ replies of other activities will likely piss some users — most people hate after all the changes, but overall this is a smart move.

This change can significantly change using Twitter the same way. So far almost as old as Favoriting Tweets, Twitter itself is a function that has always been under-represented and under-utilized. This is because Twitter never gave him a purpose, and more importantly, never had a good way to show how others use it. Now they're giving the last exposure.

It seems that most people use the Favorites button for years, or bookmark it or make it really their favorite Tweets. This will lead to an increase in the number of services such as Favstar. In the light of the recent favorite email notifications Favoriting finally got some Twitter social juice. Now these new threads should throw use your loved ones as a way to show someone you appreciate their Tweet — how "button, if you will.

Twitter will start rolling out these changes for a very small number of users today. The introduction will be continued during the next few weeks, if all goes to plan. Again, it's only going to twitter.com now, Twitter is considering how to cover the same information on their mobile applications, but notes that it may be different for different devices.

Twitter starts testing t. co shortened links today

twitter_newbird_boxed_blueonwhite

Today, Twitter will begin testing its link wrapping function that will automatically reduce the 20 characters long or more all URLs in t. co shell links. This test will affect a certain percentage of tweets publicly posted via the service, or sent via direct message.

Tests are "Canaries in the mine," says Twitter-means trying to find any issues with the new system of URL shortening before the Monday, August 15 launch.

In particular, Twitter hopes to determine if there are any problems with the user that will arise from the system, after working in the scale.

This means that you can start to see references shortened to start with "t co", appearing on Twitter during the week. And you can see the Insert link in the tweet automatically shortened for you to use the new URL wrapping function if the connection corresponds to the desired length.

Twitter is preparing to launch the system starting in June 2010. He said that the system will help the company understand how users interact with tens of millions of links shared on Twitter on a daily basis. It will also help protect users from malicious links and fraud, as the links will be reviewed before posting.

Note that this differs from the automatic connection, reducing feature which was introduced in June. It's just a truncated links for you ". It actually would wrap links, using the prefix "t co".

More information on how this change affects developers is available here and here.
