Apple Board of Directors and the Apple community:
I've always said if ever came the day when I can no longer meet my responsibilities and expectations, Apple's CEO, I'd be the first to let you know. Unfortunately that day has come.
I hereby resign as Apple CEO. I would like to serve at the discretion of the Council, as Chairman of the Board, Director and Apple employee.
With regard to my successor, I strongly recommend that we carry out our plan of continuity and the name of Tim Cook, Apple'S CEO.
I think Apple's brightest and most innovative days are ahead of him. And I look forward to watching and contributions to his success in the new role.

Update: Apple confirmed that Apple COO Tim Cook will replace jobs as Director, the seats. In view of the fact that Cook filled in for jobs during his medical leaves (including the fact that it was in this year), it's widely expected if and when the time came for jobs to resign.
Also in accordance with the request of jobs was elected Chairman of the Board and will remain with the company in this capacity. Cook will join the Board.
