Ticket sales for enterprises, nothing beats, "sold". But whether the flight is selling all their tickets or sports team fills their Stadium, the show must go on. Enterprises with perishable inventory can benefit from daily transactions model and those that you can make money on additional goods (purchase, which make up for revenues lost in offering discount) you can often break even — Take movie theaters and sports venues, for example.

This occurs when a company called Goldstar enters into the field. Gold Star-based membership site live entertainment half price tickets that allows sites to unload their additional tickets, make some extra income and generate word of mouth marketing.

GoldStar, which currently has relationships with more than 5000 place partners (from Cirque du Soleil and Ticketmaster in San Francisco) and paragraphs Matt coffin, Emmy award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris and former Ticketmaster CEO Sean Moriarty as members of the Advisory Board wants not just become a "Groupon entertainment tickets.

To differentiate their models from the likes of Groupon and LivingSocial, Goldstar avoids revenue sharing with merchants and monetizes, instead taking a fee for each ticket ($ 4.50 in average), allowing entertainment — or show themselves — to take home the full cost of each ticket sold.

So far this model works for the ticket site entertainment as Goldstar recently announced that it sold its five millionth ticket and now has more than 2 million members in more than 20 major markets in the United States. The site currently offers 1200-1500 half price tickets every day.

Of course, as anyone who has used ticket discounts knows — so far so good, just satisfaction of scoring a deal on tickets, we want to be able to go in a movie or show and sit with our friends. Unseat. Me, for example, the attack is a friend, allowing subscription owners to offer their tickets with friends until their sale of anonymous people at StubHub.

Today, gold star announces its own solutions to ticket buyers and suppliers to address this problem with its characteristic "Sit with friends". GoldStar in new patent allows Goldstar members who purchase tickets for personal reference, then they can share with friends via email or social network of choice. Users can use this link to buy tickets in the same event and automatically get seated with their friends.

With five million tickets sold, the Goldstar has come a long way since he sold his first party tickts horse Ballet in Pasadena back in 2003 year. The company never accepted outside investment, however, managed to stay profitable — with only a dozen staff. GoldStar CEO Jim Mccarthy said that the key to the armed forces of resistance to large sales La Groupon was to cultivate its existing relationships with the places and shows instead focus on closing new merchants who can never use the site again.

From the perspective of the future road map, Mccarthy said that Goldstar is looking to expand into new cities in the United States and to improve its core technologies of construction of the new features, such as sit with friends that encourage people to get out to see live entertainment — in spite of the tough economy.

millennial-media-picture

We know that mobile ad network millennial MEDIA has more than tripled revenues in 2010, 2009, and achieve profitability. But we did not know how many in the mobile advertising network brought in until now. In 2011 the last Millennial Inc. 500 list saw 47.8 million turned out in 2010, income, more than 3000 percent from 2007, $ 1.5 million in revenue. And although we don't know what the Millennial net income, we know that the company is profitable.

Millennial is one of the largest remaining independent ad networks Google bought AdMob, and Apple has acquired Quattro. There is no doubt that many technology companies through the eyes of the Millennial goal acquisition, but the company has managed to preserve its independence in spite of increased consolidation taking place in the mobile ad space.

In addition to Millennial in independent ad network company also operates and manages private mobile ad networks for large media companies and conglomerates that have multiple applications and sites, essentially the power of self-service ad network for these companies. And the millennial deals with "prominent Internet media company" (but declining to name the company), which is fully running mobile advertising at the millennial.

On the basis of comparison, AdMob reportedly had 100 million dollars in revenue, run course, when it was purchased in the year 2009, which could put his actual revenue in the $ 40 million (AdMob Division revenue 60/40 with publishers). It's unclear if the Millennial in 47.8 million in 2010, income is post-split.

I hope we will see more detailed information on financials Millennial when a company files S-1 for public offer in the coming months. CEO and founder Paul Palmieri had ambitions of taking public companies, and the timing may be right, considering that this seems to be the year of tech companies IPO. In may, Bloomberg reported that Millennial talked to bankers on the IPO, which could come in the autumn or early 2012 and valued the company at a whopping $ 700 million to $ 1 billion (AdMob was sold to Google for $ 750 million).

Given how most companies refuse to disclose the exact financials when they are private is always interesting to see revenue numbers pre-IPO.

Acer, recently the world's second largest shipper, rough year. But in March a deliberate decision was taken by senior management to abandon its goal of dethroning the HP and instead focus on how to get better, more differentiated products. The result: sales and earnings in freely. At least they knew it came — but losing millions of customers and a huge percentage of your is not something any company likes to do.

The company is taking heavy losses — twice as hard, in fact, as Reuters analysts estimated. Taiwan 6.79 billion dollars (about $ 250 million) went down the drain in Q2. It is their biggest loss ever and the first time they have done worse than forecast. The results indicate that Acer Chairman Jt Wang concedes "tries to break even this year becomes impossible. But I doubt that they plan on turning around the entire company in less than a year.

Despite losses and job cuts Acer remained stoic. They feel relaxation tablet "fever" and people will return to laptops (I'm not sure I agree). And although it is unlikely that they have any interest in (or to) buy HP business PC, Acer's President, Jim van comment that spinning is a natural thing for HP to do. He cryptically added that Acer will strive to meet the needs of its clients, including HP'S existing customers. What is the thing to say! Again however, with billions of losses every quarter, the last thing you want to Acer is $ 10 billion millstone around its neck from HP.

What he likely means that Acer could step-by-step HP shoes for the confusion. If they can stabilize quickly enough, personal systems group, HP mode move Acer could sweep in and take off a few million customers. But before that happens, expect more bad news.

(Updated to reflect the fact that figure 6.79 billion was in Taiwan dollars. really dumb I don't catch when the loss of $ 7bn would be likely to bury company)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

MakerBot industries, maker of home 3D printers, today announced the $ 10 million in financing a number of investors, mostly from the Foundry group. Also during the tour included Bezos expeditions, true ventures and RRE, along with a dozen or so Angel investors.

The company started in 2009, with about 75,000 $ starting capital, and then put together and sold approximately 5200 their compact construction machines. We've seen them in action at the very first disrupt NYC TechCrunch, and since they were commonplace in this blog. MakerBot Brad Feld just added them to the Council and now hiring.

Hardware facilities is difficult to load, but the founder of the Bre, thinks that we will see many hardware startups in the next few years. Although services and software, typically offer faster scaling and therefore more immediate benefits, there is a place for devices and accessories in the world, especially if they are unique. MakerBot to impress, but competition from the manufacture of postal services like Shapeways barrier for entry into their self-powered 3D printing world is still quite high. Home business is changing and competitors (don't tell imitators) will see the possibility of a brute-force attack on the MakerBot in design and offer more speed, materials, etc.

Nevertheless, the possibility to get the size of a microwave rapid prototyping machine to thousands of dollars is one of these characters once, when we, as a rule, unfair play. It's absolutely amazing that this is possible, in the first place, but the realities of business may not allow it to grow rapidly, tech industry, as a rule, find interesting.

More information on financing, as well as links to various Angels involved can be found for the MakerBot's blog.

code

Three days ago I wrote about Codecademy, slick, fun way to teach yourself how to program. The application did an excellent job of minimizing frustration, often associated with writing your first line of code, and it sports a beautiful and intuitive interface. Another plus: the original registration flow does not appear til you have completed your first few lessons, so that you are writing code within a few seconds before landing at the Codecademy.com.

I'm not the only one who liked it: co-founder of Sims, Zach tells us that during the three days since the start of the application, it takes 200 000 unique users. This is the users who actually interacted with the application, not those people who have Web pages and bounced off a second later. Perhaps even more impressive: users have completed the total number of exercises 2.1 mln.

Sims also said that the company is actually part of the latest batch of Y Combinator (not disclosed). Given that the team just started work on a project about two weeks ago, it sounds like they changed their ideas at the end of the program (they are not the first to see success with last-minute switch was the founder of Greplin Daniel Gross made the company the day before demo day and later landed $ 4 million from Sequoia).

Sims said that the pace of growth remained strong, largely attributable not to the press, but personal users share on Twitter and Facebook (you are the icons as you complete the lessons).

doubleTwist, slick Media Player for Android is growing. A lot.

In February, we reported that the application has passed an important milestone, drawing one million users per month between mobile and desktop applications.

Today, the company uses much more: they get 1 million users per day between doubleTwist on Android phones and tablets.

Now, it is clear that this does not mean the user base increased by a factor 30 (some people are going to use several times a month). But it is a sign that the company receives significant traction, and that its users keep coming back for more. This is especially important for mobile, where users are notorious for being fickle and giving up on the application in a day or two.

doubleTwist President Monique Farantzos said that the increase stemmed from increased brand, the company received the start of construction for Android. The first version of their Android app was released in June 2010, and since they introduced numerous updates as excellent AirSync, which allows wireless sync photos, music and movies between Android device and the computer without the need for wires (you don't even have to sync it automatically initiates when you connect to a wireless network). Farantzos said that companies, in partnership with T-Mobile also provided an early boost.

Some other key stats: 84% of the users application from English speaking countries, and today the company is rolling out internationalized versions with support for Chinese, Korean, German, French and other languages to help boost international growth.

And it also has some great news to share: while doubleTwist has focused exclusively on Android for awhile, he's going to start expanding to other platforms. Intel said it has licensed its wireless synchronization technology for AirSync MeeGo platform, and it sounds like the application can come to Windows phone and possibly Web OS down the line (it is not confirmed, but pointed out that Android alternatives can see increased traction after the transaction, Motorola/Google).

doubleTwist's mission is to organize and feed content to any device.

This is not entirely clear who invest, but we're hearing that the deal includes Accel Partners and crossover technology ventures. Storm8 is the company behind such hits as World War II and iMobsters, and his TeamLava Studio production hits as restaurant history, history of the farm and a bakery, a history of Fashion Story. In view of these statistics is not a huge surprise, today's News is a few weeks ago, inside Mobile Apps reported that the company was "to be, if not actively pursuing a sale", and the funding cycle seemed more likely.

Mobile is ready to be mass market for games and many companies (and their investors) and hoping for the success of the surge way Zynga on Facebook. Andreessen Horowitz recently 18 million dollars in the United States, and Sequoia TinyCo 5 million dollars in the pocket of the precious stones. The massive acquisition of PopCap, EA Mobile focus. There are many creative talents out there, but for a long time, designers, artists and creative professionals have been underrepresented in the digital world. Not only that, but the Internet is an ideal tool for artists to showcase their talents, their portfolios and hook up with benefactors. So even at the beginning of 2008, Scott Belsky and co-founder of Matias Corea, together with engineering leads Dave Stein and Chris Henry, began the Behance platform for creative professionals to showcase their talents, designed in the big picture to put the control back in the hands of creative and give your ideas a chance to see the light of day.

After landing, and Behance became one of the go-to resource for creatives to effectively organize and showcase their work in trying to jump start his career. Behance Network, Club flagship platform allows for creative types to create multimedia portfolios and disseminate those Behance partner sites, and, most importantly, LinkedIn.

In the past year, Behance started "Display creative portfolio that allows users to overcome the creative and social networking and connect their portfolios right on their LinkedIn accounts. While the exact figure is not Behance, Behance CEO Scott Belsky confirmed that more than 100.000 members of LinkedIn currently use application to demonstrate their creative portfolios on their LinkedIn profile and keep them in sync.

Behance has created a "99%" of its research units and think-tank, which includes its self-titled magazine and Conference, which offers creative tips, articles, and the opportunity to network in order to advance the ideas for implementation and helping creatives in seeking to eliminate the "hungry" from "starving artist". Behance Network and its 99% of the wing became a great resource for recruiters, editors, and fans find inspires creativity and talent for hire.

In fact, today the Behance showed some new, cool statistics for TechCrunch, which provide a glimpse into the process of growth of the network. Today, the creative professionals at Behance have been published more than 1 million projects with more than 20 000 new projects launched every week, with more than 100 000 pictures and videos.

Both the Behance tracks data for each of these projects, including what tools were used to create them, which the client was, who collaborated in the project and how many people and "appreciated" (equivalent to Behance in Facebook "like"), the network is taking steps to create a "creative Earl." Just like the social graph, the graph of interest and more Behance uses this information to give creative insight into trends, equipment, resources and software are the most popular among certain channels the creative world.

In the future, said Behance co-founder and CEO Scott Belsky, this may mean that Behance is LinkedIn type business model, where he helps the best brands and companies to explore its database in very specific ways to search, track and hire talent to assist companies in identifying and tracking of their brand or product.

Community support site get satisfaction announces today a $ 10 million series b financing led by InterWest partners and followed by blue, OATV and first round capital, InterWest partner Bruce Cleveland will join the Board this new inflow of resources will then get the common funding of $ 21 million to date.

In the same space as lithium or Telligent Satisifaction, ambitiously wants to be the first company to move to the network, to talk with clients, these clients can be. The company was founded in 2007, Lane Becker, Thor Muller, Amy Muller, who came with the product after realizing that they need a platform to support their main project at the time, hilarious Valleyschwag.

Since then, get satisfaction has gone through some notable change management; Co-founder Thor Muller resigned as Director in 2009 and Becker resigned as President in 2010, the transfer of key Web 2.0 veteran Wendy Lea, whose task is to transform the ideals get satisfaction public support community with real business.

Get satisfaction is based on the relationship between brands and consumers must be open and transparent. On multiple platforms, the main forum features allow customers to initiate discussion, one of four ways, ask a question, share an idea, report a problem or give praise. Companies can create a page to obtain satisfaction for free and pay a monthly fee to demand and moderate page starting at $ 19.00.

LEA tells me that in a world post Web 2.0, companies should engage with customers through multiple points of contact; For example the integration of get satisfaction Facebook fan page redirects all calls through the main center of the company.

What separates get satisfaction from competitors is the fact that all the interactions occur in an open environment and so easy to find in Google customers wishing, the answer to the question as "the mighty leaf tea from a fair trade tea?" you can find themes and a mighty target page easily. The company provides value to its customers through direct data services CRM Salesforce and Assistly, allowing brands to take practical steps according to excavated client discussion reduces research and support costs.

Get satisfaction currently has more than 58 000 communities online and 2500, with clients, running the gamut from giant Proctor and Gamble, Adobe to startups like Zynga, Spotify, Flipboard and Mint.

LEA is sold in the larger vision of human powered community and tells me what get satisfaction is essentially a bridge between social networks such as Facebook and CRM tools like Salesforce, attracting customers on what amounts to a pyramid consisting of three levels; Service and support (Basic), the idea of the level (Center) and community level (above). Perhaps the most eloquent testimony to the company's philosophy is the mascot of jargon, the robot, which represents the corporate speak, many companies use when communicating with customers, "we want the company to make an authentic voice," says Lea.

LEA plans to use the funding for the establishment of the team even further in order to focus on product innovation and strategic partnerships. The company currently employs 39 staff and has made many notable new staff in recent months, including the star Community Manager Drew Olanoff. LEA tells me she is planning to release mobile get satisfaction and new widgets this month and "very interested" in acquiring — so stay tuned for more news here.

In June this year, we noted that Instagram has a big milestone: 5 million users. While the total number of photos at the service was at 95 million, and given the pace of growth, they are expected to soon pass 100 million. Well, they missed, indicating that milestone, but today, not even two months later, they you mention another: 150 million photos.

It is 150 million photos are Instagram only 9 months since the app for comparison's sake, it took almost two years hit the Flickr 100 million photos on their service. Incredibly, Instagram now see photos 1.3 million downloaded every day is the number of 15 pictures per second.

The service is currently well past 7 million users, Instagram founder Kevin Systrom tells us. Again, that is over 2 million under the age of 2 months. Without any strategic actions they've grown to become the basis of the top 25 free app in the Apple App Store.

Yes, Flickr can now be well past photos 5 billion, and Facebook, you can see photos of 750 million into one crazy weekend, but remember that Instagram is still available only on one platform: iOS. Each of these 150 million photos loaded with iPhone (and to a much lesser extent, iPod touches and iPads). It cannot yet be used Instagram from any other device, and you can't even download photos from your computer. While Android will support, the experience will remain predominantly one mobile, said Systrom.

One more crazy stat: Systrom said that 150 million photographs, 80 per cent have filters applied to them. (A) of the remaining 20 per cent, many who come from other camera iPhone apps with their own filters.

Oh and don't forget Bieber.
