GoPayment

Inuit GoPayment reader, which competes directly with the square, has made a significant step in the mobile payments space today, in partnership with Verizon Wireless to sell its credit card readers in Verizon Wireless, 2300 retail shops and business-to-business sales channels.

Launched two years ago, GoPayment offers complimentary app and credit card reader allow small businesses to carry out payments via their smartphones. GoPayment is available to OIOS, Android and Blackberry phones and card reader simply connects to the audio jack on your phone or tablet. Credit card data is encrypted (and is never stored on the phone).

Now GoPayment will be offered at retail outlets and online Verizon Wireless for $ 29.97, but you can get a free reader activation with GoPayment account and mail-in rebate on the purchase price. By analogy with GoPayment square mobile payment app is free and basic service has no monthly transaction or cancellation fees and offers a 2.7% rate for swiped transactions. Intuit intuitively and area actually both eliminate the transaction fee.

While the area ' the reader for free for a little while now, it was only last year that Intuit shift its model to offer his GoPayment card reader for free. The paid version of GoPayment is also available for more intensive use of enterprises for 12.95 value per month and includes swiped transactions amounted to 1.7%. Partnership with Intuit offers Verizon Wireless customers two months of free service when they choose this monthly paid plan.

Verizon, said that customers who buy a Smartphone to use GoPayment, you should subscribe to Verizon Wireless nationwide talk plan starting at $ 39.99 monthly access. Tablet and Smartphone users need the data package, starting at $ 30 per month for 2 GB of data.

Chris Hylen, General Manager of Intuit payment solutions division, partnership frameworks around attracting small businesses who use Verizon Wireless Smartphones or tablets. And go to the Verizon makes sense considering carrier features of the iPhone, Android phones and blackberries. It is also important to note that this is the second retail availability of GoPayment is Intuit reader is available at Apple's retail site (as the Piazza and VeriFone). On the basis of comaprison square in the device is sold in the Apple store for $ 9.95, but users will get $ 10 square credit when they register for an account.

Hylen explains: "rather than lose the potential business, anyone who sells a product or service, you can now easily and affordably provide customers the option to pay with plastic ...GoPayment met a great need and is one of the fastest growing mobile payment solutions on the market. With Verizon Wireless to help discover that they too can process credit card payments on phones or tablets, which they already have even more people. "

Of course trust the carrier, as popular as Verizon necessarily help GoPayment remained competitive with square, which had recently taken investment from Visa, as well as the VeriFone and other smaller players like Erply.

Hylen tells us that there are a number of reasons to choose GoPayment over competitors, including Intuit ' trusted brand "kompanii"fokus at consumers ' 24-hour customer service support, security and most importantly integration with Intuit, extremely popular Quickbooks accounting software. You can also synchronize your GoPayment transactions with the latest versions of QuickBooks. GoPayment also supports up to 50 users per account, which is perfect for businesses with multiple employees who work in the field.

GoPayment is one of the fastest growing enterprises Intuit and Hylen said that the service is on the way to handle more than $ 1 billion in transactions for the year. Intuit has declined to reveal how many businesses use GoPayment but said that customers had increased eight times since January.

Intuit, said that he would consider similar partnerships in the future. I will say that the entire rebate trap drop me a little, and bearing in mind the many forget to send in their discounts, square, adopted with their Apple credit transaction option seems better suited for the consumer. But there is no doubt that the endorsement from the carrier win for Intuit GoPayment and should help to increase the use of.

Screen Shot 2011-08-16 at 9.43.26 AM

Tyler Loch creator VisualHub, one of the best (and funny) video converters for OS X it is closed for a few years ago and left the application to be delayed and then shut it down completely, forcing people to scour the Internet for copies. Several versions of OS X have come and gone and still worked, but the lion killed the app to users sufficiently completely.

I am a former client and VisualHub bought it reseller Kagi Tyler, when he was still available. Today I received an email informing me that I could update the VisualHub to work with Leo for a mere $ 5. Glad that the application was supported by the again, I soon discovered that Tyler was not part of this update and to the point that Kagi VisualHub spam list in order to lift a bit more money from the product.

Here's Tyler's side of the story:

We use Kagi as our official dealer for all Techspansion sales. We had a good working relationship for years, Techspansion.

Although the VisualHub were not offered for sale in years, I thought it would be a nice gesture to correct some of the issues that caused it to fail on Mac OS X lion.
I quietly released some replacement parts free of charge at techspansion.com a month ago for people who still use VisualHub and AudialHub.

Last night, former client email me very confused. He received an e-mail message from Kagi about Lion updates VisualHub. For $ 4.99.
Then it was My father-in-law, asking if I'm going back to business, and just forgot to mention it in his ...

More and more friends, relatives and former clients have begun to treat my wife and I last night, wondering what was going on.
We began to understand that our entire client base (or close to it) contacted the advertising for the updating of the $ 5 "vHub", something I've never participated, which touts the company's name and the name of our software is front and Center.

Although the FFmpeg and inner workings of my open-source (FilmRedux, ReduxZero, etc.), VisualHub as it exists in the world, is not. I gave permission and were not familiar with Kagi hosting, redeployment and indirectly sell components that I wrote in their product.

And I definitely do not (and never will) use contact information for my company clients to obtain a business like this.

So here's the gist of it:
A reliable business partner selects my copyrighted code.
…Packages and makes it available through the updater ...
…Offers for sale ...
…And mass email my customers about it.

Frankly I'm very disappointed with this whole situation.
I am in contact with the wish to see how we can solve this problem.

Firstly you can get update Leo here for free, and secondly, this is probably the most egregious examples of blackmailware, I've seen in a long time. vHub update is, in short, simple installation, built around Tyler's patch. In a note to Seidman LON Kagi's CEO Kee Nethery accused Tyler to "walk out of business" and said that his clients were confused by it burdensome requirements. TUAW says:

In connection with VisualHub as developer Tyler Loch was halted his app, Kagi indicated users Loch in patch instructions on Techspansion. Despite the fact that efforts to fix the app is minimal process showing the app package contents and replace the three script files clearly goes beyond the "comfort level" many users from using Kagi.

There is also some doubt that the application is a product of Kagi. A quick search shows that the update "site" (vhub .biz) appointed Nethery Ki.

We can clearly assume that Kagi will be glad to unpack and sell almost anything at the moment, including OS X updates. It is an open market, people, and if you Kagi, you know that there's a sucker born every minute.
